26 is the ONLY number sandwiched between 
a perfect square ( 25 = 5^2) and a perfect cube (27 = 3^3).

    -1 = (-1)^3 and 1 = 1^2

  2. I went back and checked my source. The source said that it is the only positive number. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to that distinction, since a negative number can't be a square.
