Today is the 50th anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church, a Black church in Birmingham, Alabama. Four girls, ages 11-14, died in the blast. The blast was from dynamite, set by 4 members of the KKK. An additional 22 people were injured. (My 4 is for the 4 girls, not the 4 bombers.)
Clockwise from top left, Addie Mae Collins, age 14; Cynthia Wesley, age 14; Carole Robertson, age 14; and Denise McNair, age 11.
