999

After a 7 mile hike to Tianmen Mountain (Heaven's Gate Mountain), China, or a 7455 meter long cable car ride, you still have to walk up 999 stairs to get to Heaven's Gate.  9 is good luck in the Chinese culture, and 999 even more so.
