I guess I sort of pictured the whole area as urban sprawl. I used to think that about the whole north-eastern seaboard. But I went to Boston in 2001, and was somewhat astounded at what I saw from the plane when we got to that area. There was, in fact, a band of what looked like urbanization. But it wasn't anywhere near as much of the area as I thought.
